For Therapists
Is this suitable for my client?
A structured one-to-one adjunctive mindfulness and breathwork programme for clients who may benefit from practical stress regulation support alongside psychotherapy, or as a standalone wellbeing intervention where appropriate.
I offer a six-week one-to-one mindfulness and breathwork programme for people experiencing chronic stress, anxiety, burnout, sleep disruption, overwhelm, and difficulty regulating stress responses.
This work is practical, structured, and body-based. It focuses on helping clients develop greater awareness of stress patterns, improve breathing habits, build self-regulation skills, and establish simple practices that support calmer day-to-day functioning.
I am not a therapist, counsellor, or psychotherapist. I do not offer psychotherapy, trauma treatment, diagnosis, or mental health care.
My work is non-clinical and I take scope of practice and ethics very seriously. This programme is intended to complement, not replace, appropriate therapeutic or medical support.
HOW THE WORK IS POSITIONED
Some clients have strong insight into their patterns, but still struggle to feel any different in their bodies.
They may be articulate, reflective, and psychologically minded, yet remain chronically activated, exhausted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from embodied experience. They may understand their stress, but still lack practical tools to regulate it.
This programme is designed for those clients.
The emphasis is on skill-building rather than verbal analysis. Through one-to-one mindfulness and breathwork sessions, clients are supported in developing a more regulated relationship with stress, breath, attention, and internal state.
For some clients, this can work well alongside psychotherapy by supporting self-observation, grounding, and regulation between sessions. For others, particularly those not seeking therapy but needing structured support, it can offer a useful and contained wellbeing intervention.
WHO MAY BENEFIT
This programme may be suitable for clients who:
-
Present with chronic stress, anxiety, burnout, overwhelm, or persistent stress activation
-
Struggle with stress-related sleep disruption, shallow breathing, or difficulty settling
-
Are highly cognitive and may benefit from more experiential, body-based support
-
Want practical regulation tools between therapy sessions
-
Are neurodivergent, including clients with ADHD or sensory sensitivity, and may benefit from more flexible approaches
-
Are interested in mindfulness and breathwork, but would benefit from individual guidance rather than a class or app-based format
WHAT THE PROGRAMME OFFERS
The six-week programme is delivered one-to-one with Cian and tailored to the individual's needs, pace, and capacity.
The focus is on:
-
Mindfulness practices that support awareness, grounding, and attentional stability
-
Breathwork techniques that help reduce stress reactivity and support more regulated breathing patterns
-
Practical tools clients can use in everyday life
-
Gentle, structured support in building sustainable practice over time
Because the work is one-to-one, practices can be adapted to suit the individual's nervous system, level of experience, and current life demands.
WHAT THIS WORK IS - AND IS NOT
This is not talking therapy.
Clients are not asked to process trauma, disclose personal history in depth, or use sessions for psychotherapeutic exploration. While emotions may naturally arise in contemplative or body-based work, the focus of this programme is regulation, awareness, and skill-building.
This work does not replace psychotherapy, psychiatry, or medical care. It is best understood as an adjunctive wellbeing intervention where appropriate.
ETHICS, BOUNDARIES, AND SCOPE
I aim to work in a way that is clear, boundaried, and professionally responsible.
That includes:
-
Being explicit that I am not a therapist and do not offer therapy
-
Staying within a clearly defined non-clinical scope of practice
-
Being honest about the limits of mindfulness and breathwork-based work
-
Referring onward where therapeutic, psychiatric, or medical support is more appropriate
-
Positioning this programme as complementary support rather than a substitute for treatment
If a prospective client presents with needs that fall outside the scope of this work, I would not present this programme as the appropriate intervention.
SUITABILITY
This programme is generally best suited to clients who are psychologically stable enough to engage in guided mindfulness and breathwork without requiring specialist mental health containment within the sessions.
It may be less suitable for clients who are:
-
In acute crisis
-
Experiencing severe dissociation, psychosis, or significant instability
-
In need of primary trauma treatment
-
Seeking psychotherapy rather than a practice-based approach
Where there is any doubt about suitability, I am happy to discuss whether the work is likely to be a good fit.
WORKING ALONGSIDE PSYCHOTHERAPY
I welcome referrals from therapists who feel a client may benefit from additional support in developing practical regulation tools outside the therapy room.
Where appropriate, this programme can run alongside ongoing psychotherapy, with the understanding that therapy remains the primary space for psychological exploration and treatment.
The intention is not to duplicate therapy, but to support clients in cultivating embodied resources that may help them function with greater steadiness in daily life.
A GOOD FIT FOR REFERRAL
This work may be a good referral option when a client:
-
Is overwhelmed but not necessarily seeking more verbal processing
-
Needs practical support for stress regulation
-
Would benefit from body-based tools alongside insight-based therapeutic work
-
Is struggling to translate therapeutic understanding into day-to-day change
-
Wants a structured, short-term, one-to-one intervention focused on mindfulness and breathwork
PROFESSIONAL POSITIONING
Cian offers one-to-one mindfulness and breathwork support for stress regulation and wellbeing.
He is not a therapist and does not provide psychotherapy or clinical treatment. His work is grounded in clear ethical boundaries, practical non-clinical support, and respect for the role of therapeutic and medical professionals.
REFERRALS AND ENQUIRIES
If you are considering referring a client and would like to discuss suitability, you are very welcome to get in touch.
I am happy to answer questions about scope, structure, and whether the programme is likely to support the client appropriately.
